Assurance in retirement was most discussed topic among feedback on National Day Rally
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's National Day Rally announcement on enhancing retirement adequacy was the most discussed topic on REACH platforms.
Government feedback portal, REACH, says about 2 in 5 responses it received touched on this subject.
Most respondents welcome the extension of the HDB Lease Buyback Scheme to 4-room flats, saying that it would provide a welcome additional monetization option to the elderly.
Some even suggested that the scheme be extended to all public housing to benefit more Singaporeans.
Contributors also welcomed the the announcement on allowing Singaporeans to withdraw a lump sum from their CPF once they reach 65.
However, it was also felt that there should be safeguards to prevent over-withdrawal and depletion of CPF funds.
REACH conducted a Facebook Chat session this evening with Singaporeans to hear their views on the NDR speech.
Senior Minister for Health and Manpower, Dr Amy Khor also took part in the chat.
She shared that participants of the Facebook chat welcomed the government's vision to provide Singaporeans with different levels of qualifications the opportunities to achieve their potential.
Still, Dr Khor shared that there was some skeptical feedback received on the REACH platforms.
