Open water swim clinics for youth triathlon participants

MILO MOE Youth Triathlon.

SINGAPORE: The MILO MOE Youth Triathlon is back for its 4th edition on 24 March.

Compared to last year, there are more participants this year — from 1,361 to 1,800. And, participants can look forward to something new even prior to the actual event.

For the first time, the event location is moved from Sentosa to East Coast Park.

And organisers wanted to make sure everyone was prepared for the swim in the sea.

So Open Water Swim Clinics were held for youth participants aged nine to 19.

Swimming in the open sea poses different challenges from that in a pool, especially with the current among the many uncertainties.

Chow Phee Chat, marketing director, Nestle Singapore, said: "We thought that to enhance the event we will provide this first hand experience for our participants to swim in open water. This is a new element to the event (and) about 300 participants have signed up for the swim clinic and we are very encouraged by the numbers."
