TRE, Lee Hsien Yang reach amicable agreement

SINGAPORE: Socio—political website TR Emeritus said it has reached an amicable agreement with Mr Lee Hsien Yang with regards to a defamatory comment posted on its website.

The comment has since been removed.

In a posting late this evening, TRE said it wishes to put this episode behind and move on.

Its editorial team said: "We acknowledge and regret that a defamatory comment about Mr Lee Hsien Yang was placed on our website by a netizen. We had and have no intention to defame Mr Lee. We have removed the said defamatory comment from our website."

TRE was represented by senior counsel Kannan Ramesh of Tan Kok Quan Partnership while Mr Lee Hsien Yang was represented by Mr Tan Chuan Thye of Stamford Law.

Mr Lee’s lawyer said: "My client is satisfied that his requests have been met, that the false and defamatory postings have been removed and that TRE has acknowledged and expressed regret over this posting. The vindication of his name and reputation is important."
