An air steward with Singapore Airlines was found dead in his Chin Swee flat on Tuesday at 8:55pm.
Jeffery Lai, 37, was found by his mother, three days after his death.
On hearing that her son had not turned up for work, his mother had gone to his flat to look for him, only to discover his decomposed body in his flat.
According to his brother, the deceased was single and lived alone, rarely keeping in contact with his family members.
He also added that a few days ago, SIA had called them, saying that Jeffery had not turned up at work for a few days, and was absent without taking leave or giving any reasons.
Upon hearing this, Jeffery's mother tried calling her son. When her calls were unanswered, she became worried and went to his flat to look for him.
As she approached the gate, she smelt a foul smell coming from the flat. When she entered the flat, she found Jeffery lying on his bed and not breathing.
Jeffery's brother said that his brother had been healthy and rarely complained about any pains or illnesses, so his death came as a shock to the family.
The police will be investigating this case for any possibilities of foul play.
