Traffic police arrest 23 drink—driving offenders

SINGAPORE: Traffic Police have arrested 23 people for drink driving in a four—and—a—half—hour operation that started at around 2.30 on Saturday morning.

Those arrested are aged between 23 and 54 years old.

The authorities also said of those arrested, 21 are men.

Meanwhile, 30 people were also caught for other offences such as speeding and driving without a valid licence.

Officers had set up road blocks at places such as Clemenceau Avenue, New Bridge Road and River Valley Road to catch errant motorists.

Those convicted of drink driving will be banned from driving for at least 12 months.

First—time offenders can also be jailed up to six months and fined a maximum of S$5,000.
