Navy open house woos crowd with shows, rides

SINGAPORE : The Navy Open House is back again.

Held at Changi Naval Base, the open house showcases the capabilities of the 3rd Generation Republic of Singapore Navy.

It was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean on Saturday morning.

A thrilling sequence of events was lined up at the open house, including a naval sea display to demonstrate the capabilities of the naval divers who later stormed a vessel to rescue a group of hostages.

This year’s open house also allows visitors to learn more about the navy’s participation in overseas deployments and exercises, its capabilities, and its role in ensuring maritime security.

Visitors are also able to go on guided tours of frigates and enjoy rides on the warships.

The open house will end on Sunday. — CNA /ls
