Apprentice jockey dies after falling from horse


Apprentice jockey dies after falling from horse

SINGAPORE: An apprentice jockey died from serious injuries sustained during a fall at Kranji on Thursday morning.

The Singapore Turf Club said 25—year—old Wong Wei Xiang was riding the horse, Nopaynohay, on Track Number 3 when he fell.

He was given medical assistance immediately and was sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A Singapore Training Academy for Racing graduate, Mr Wong was granted his apprentice jockey’s licence by the Malayan Racing Association on January 25, 2012.

The club is giving support to Mr Wong’s family and will be conducting an investigation into the accident.
