All ministries focused on planning ahead, says Environment and Water Resources Minister Vivian Balakrishnan
Environment and Water Resources Minister Vivian Balakrishnan says all ministries are focused on planning ahead for Singapore's projected population growth by 2030.
This comes a day after National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan gave assurances that an estimated 6.9 million population by then is a worst case scenario.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a community event, Dr Balakrishnan said Singaporeans' reaction to whether the country can support this number is understandable.
So whether it's housing or transport, Dr Balakrishnan said the key is to build ahead.
As for his ministry, he said Singaporeans can be reassured that there will be enough water resources in the future.
He pointed to technology such as reverse osmosis and the ability to enhance water recycling.
