The HDB has spent nearly a billion dollars since 1995 on electrical upgrading works to that the older flats can support higher electricity consumption from a technology-driven lifestyle.
This was revealed by National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan in a blog post.
He says older blocks are being provided with 40 amps main switches.
Mr Khaw says this higher electrical loading minimises electrical power trips.
In comparison, HDB blocks built before 1990 were provided with 30 amps main switches.
This was based on the prevailing standard specification.
Nearly 2,400 blocks have been upgraded so far.
And another 4,000 blocks will be upgraded in due course.
