Africa Singapore Business Forum to proceed
Trade promotion agency, IE Singapore, says it has no plans so far to cancel its two-day Africa Singapore Business Forum later this month, despite the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.
According to the World Health Organisation, some one thousand people have died from the disease.
Referring to an assessment by the Health Ministry, IE Singapore said the outbreak posed low risk to public health here.
Nevertheless, it would give the health and safety aspects of the forum, top priority.
Delegates based in Africa will also be alerted to Singapore's health advisory for incoming travellers.
Given that the situaion is fluid, IE Singapore said it's working closely with the Health and Foreign Affairs Ministries to monitor developments.
It said some 140 African delegates will be travelling to Singapore for the forum.
