SINGAPORE: Acting Manpower Minister Tan Chuan—Jin said he’s pleased with the speed at which the workers were evacuated from the site of the rig accident at Jurong Shipyard on Monday.
He said they were evacuated in about 20 minutes. Another 20 minutes were spent to ensure that everyone was accounted for.
Mr Tan, who visited the accident site on Tuesday, said the focus now is to investigate the cause of the accident.
He said six of the workers, who are among 89 injured when the jack—up rig tilted to its side, are still in hospital. They’ll be discharged soon.
The rest have been discharged.
