SINGAPORE: A library with no librarians. That is the model the new ’library@chinatown’ is going for.
Fully tended by volunteers, it houses books on Chinese arts and culture.
More than half the books are in Chinese, but there is still a sizeable number in other languages.
It also has a self—service library where borrowing can be done at e—Kiosks.
And should the visitors or volunteers need help, a staff librarian is just a phone call away.
