5 ways to celebrate National Day
National Day isn’t only about the Parade. It’s also a time to celebrate and indulge in all things Singaporean. So put on your red-and-whites, gather your friends and family and enjoy these five activities on August 9.
1. Tune in to local music. All day.
MediaCorp’s Lush 99.5FM will play nothing but music by local artistes this National Day, a first by any radio station in Singapore.
Listeners will not only get the chance to enjoy tunes by local acts, but also be entertained by special guests like Dick Lee (12pm - 1pm), the creative director for this year’s National Day Parade, and Singapore band The Sam Willows (1pm - 2pm).
“The Lush philosophy is centered on showcasing the Singapore art and music scenes - more than ten per cent of our playlist comprises local music - so we thought this would be an apt way to celebrate National Day and show our love and support for the community,” said Lush 99.5FM assistant programme director Vanessa Fernandez.
When: All day
2. Jam with local bands
If live music is more your thing, then head down to *SCAPE to rock with your favourite homegrown bands. There will be performances by 53A, ORANGECOVE, Aspectrum, as well as old school games with a twist - think giant five stones and life-size Snakes & Ladders - to keep you entertained.
