24 Indian nationals to be charged in court this afternoon

Twenty four Indian nationals are expected to be charged in court this afternoon for the riot in Little India on Sunday night.
In all 28 people were arrested.
But police investigations found that a Singapore Permanent Resident, two Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian national were not involved in the incident and they have been released.
The riot, the first in four decades, was triggered by the death of 33-year-old Indian worker, Sakthivel Kumaravelu, who was run over by a private bus at the junction of Race Course Road and Hampshire Road.
It angered some 400 foreign workers, who set fire to vehicles and attacked emergency services personnel.
