2 working groups submit final reports to CSNS
Two Working Groups in the Committee to Strengthen National Service, or CSNS, have submitted their final reports to the steering committee.
This, during their seventh Steering Committee Meeting this morning.
The two groups are: Support for NS, and Recognition and Benefits for National Service.
Members discussed the recommendations following the latest round of public feedback - like improving the management of the Individual Physical Proficiency Test, expanding the roles of the Advisory Council on Community Relations in Defence and the SAF Veterans' League, and enhancing measures to support National Servicemen in healthcare, housing and education.
The Committee also discussed some of the suggestions which would not be taken up.
CSNS member Gerald Singham says while the the recommendations are meaningful, they do not make NS into something that's too transactional.
More than 40,000 people have participated in the CSNS public consultation effort.
The CSNS will announce its recommendations by June.
