SINGAPORE: More than 16,000 people from over 50 countries took part in this year's Jurong Lake Run on Saturday.
Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam and MediaCorp CEO Shaun Seow flagged off the MediaCorp 10-kilometre competitive race.
Into its fourth year, it is the first time the event is being held in the evening.
Mr Tharman also flagged off other races, including the 2.5-kilometre Kids Run and the Community Walk-a-jog.
This year, S$1 from the registration fees will be donated for every kilometre completed by each participant.
Together with other donations, S$150,000 has been raised for charity.
All net proceeds will be donated to five beneficiaries. - CNA/al
