SINGAPORE: After 11 days of intense competition among 389 participants, 147 winners received awards at the 2012 National Chinese Music competition on Sunday evening.
Held at the Singapore Conference Hall, they received their awards from Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong.
Selected winners also enjoyed the privilege of performing alongside the Singapore Chinese Orchestra.
The competition aims to celebrate young talents in Chinese music and motivate competitors to strive for high levels of artistic excellence.
Now into its eighth edition, the competition has since propelled many musicians onto the scene.
