SINGAPORE: 12 parties have expressed interest in the management of four hawker centres that are under the Stall Ownership Scheme.
They are at Block 207 New Upper Changi Road, Block 117 Aljunied Ave 2, Block 20 Ghim Moh Road and Block 503 West Coast Drive.
The leases of these centres will expire on May 31, 2014.
The National Environment Agency said it had called for a Request for Information exercise to gauge the level of interest and to gather information from the market for the management of hawker centres.
It said it is exploring new management models that can result in better management efficiencies, as well as widen the diversity of affordable food options and dining experiences, and creating employment opportunities for Singaporeans and PRs.
It is presently studying the submissions and more details will be provided at a later date. - CNA/ac
