10,000 professionals, managers & executives to join Labour Movement by 2013

Singapore's Labour Movement is getting a boost in its membership from among professionals, managers and executives -- or PMEs -- through a new tie-up.

The partnership agreement was signed between the National Trades Union Congress and Adam Khoo Learning Technologies Group.

It will see 10,000 PMEs from the Group joining the Labour Movement by 2013 under the U Associate programme.

In a statement, NTUC says it is important that the Labour Movement adapts to meet the needs of PMEs as they are the rank-and-file workers of tomorrow.

Currently, nearly a quarter (23 percent) of NTUC members are PMEs.

That's 160,000 PME members -- up from 130,000 in 2010.

The U Associate Programme is the Labour Movement's outreach programme for professionals, managers and executives.

Under the programme, members can tap into benefits including professional development subsidies, workplace advisory services and retail rebates.
