More men in sex-for-favours cases

While Ng Boon Gay’s name was cleared, former chief of Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) Peter Lim (right) and ex-National University of Singapore law professor Tey Tsun Hang (left) weren’t so lucky.

In a case similar to Ng’s, Lim was found guilty of corruptly obtaining oral sex from ex-Nimrod Engineering general manager Pang Chor Mui, and was sentenced to six months' jail.

Apart from Pang, Lim also admitted to seven other trysts with two other women from two other firms - Kelly Lee Wei Hoon of Singapore Radiation Centre and Esther Goh Tok Mui of NCS Pte Ltd - both of which were vendors of the SCDF. The last two charges against Lim were dropped.

As for Tey, he was convicted of corruptly obtaining gifts and sex from his former student Darinne Ko - whom he got pregnant - in return for giving her better grades.

After a drama-filled trial that saw Tey suffering a panic attack, the 42-year-old was sentenced to five months’ jail and was also ordered to pay a penalty of $514.80 which includes the balance of a dinner bill and the cost of two shirts from Ko.

Both men were sacked after their conviction.
