It is the largest financial scandal to hit Singapore's charity sector but when the City Harvest Church (CHC) corruption trial kicked off in 2013, everyone (well, almost) seemed more interested in former CHC finance manager Serina Wee, than what went down in the courtroom.
Wee, one of six CHC members accused of embezzling more than S$50 million worth of church funds, stole the spotlight with her good looks and sense of style, and was even dubbed "The Goddess of Nectar and All Things Divine".
Media outlets dedicated widespread coverage to the 36-year-old mother of three and thousands, if not millions, grabbed the dailies and went online to check out her OOTD (outfit of the day). Even a Serina Wee Facebook page was started to ‘worship’ her.
Well, Serina Wee fans need not wait much longer for another glimpse of their “Goddess” as the CHC trial returns to court in January.
