The dragons have descended on Chinatown as the centrepieces of the annual light-up for the Lunar New Year.

As celebrations start to bid farewell to the Year of the Rabbit and usher in the Year of the Dragon, makeshift stalls and new year goodies have started lining up the normally quiet streets of Chinatown.

Waxed meat, red lanterns, tangerines, red packets are seen flying off the shelves as eager customers flock to get their share of "prosperity" and "blessings" for the new year, which are represented by the consumption and giving of traditional lunar new year products.
