It turned out to be a reddish affair all around the world when hundreds gathered to experience the total lunar eclipse.
Many were psyched to view the bright red moon which could be viewed without the use of telescope.
The unique colour was brought about as the moon was positioned within the earth's shadow. Hence, only red light from the sun was able to hit the moon's surface.
Known as the longest total lunar eclipse in a decade, it was supposed to have lasted from 3.25am till 5am, local time. In Singapore, more than 700 people gathered at the Science Centre Singapore to look at the blood-red moon.
Enthusiasts around the world gathered to catch a glimpse of the special moment. The last time such occurrence happened was in 2004 and the next one will only be in 2018.
