When New Zealand's most famous sheep, Shrek (above) passed away in June this year due to old age, the nation mourned the death of an icon.

A sheep that went missing and was presumed dead, Shrek emerged six years later with a massive fleece three times larger than itself.

After a "haircut", it was whisked off to meet then Prime Minister Helen Clark, before becoming the star of children's books and various charity programmes.
