Dylan Hockley moved to Newtown with his family and by coincidence lived in the same neighbourhood as the loner who was to murder him.
Dylan's grandmother Theresa Moretti told the Daily Mail: "Dylan was a lovely boy. He had dimples and blue eyes and a mischievous grin. He loved playing Wii and they had a trampoline in their garden. He loved garlic bread and his brother. We are shattered and will never be the same."
Her daughter, Nicole, recently gave an interview to the local paper the Newtown Bee in which she described how "happy and comfortable" the family felt in their new home. Tragically she also praised her "incredible" neighbours, who included the Lanza family.
Dylan's brother Jake, aged 8 was also at the school, but was unharmed in the attack.
