Takanashi leads Japan to Lillehammer victory

World number one Sara Takanashi helped Japan to victory in the mixed teams ski jumping event at Lillehammer on Friday.

The 17-year-old starred as Japan scored 942.1 points, with Gregor Schlierenzauer's Austria taking second spot with 901.9 and Norway in third on 887.5 points.

Japan, the reigning world champions in the discipline, were in second place after the first jumps but took victory in the second round.

"The snowfall was pretty heavy in the first round and it was not easy for me because I skipped the training jump," said Takanashi.

"But the second round went pretty well for me, so I'm satisfied and happy about the win."
