Taiwan gas pipeline blasts injure 212, fatalities feared

Multiple gas pipeline explosions ripped through the southern Taiwanese city of Kaohsiung, leaving at least five people feared dead and injuring 212, officials said Friday.

"At least 212 people who were injured have been rushed to hospitals for treatment," the National Fire Agency said, adding that the cause of the blasts on late Thursday was not immediately clear. 

Premier Jiang Yi-huah told reporters that five people, including a firefighter, were feared dead.
