Socceroos based in Vitoria for World Cup
The Australian Socceroos, who will be based in the southeastern Brazilian city of Vitoria during the 2014 World Cup, attend a training session in Sydney on November 18, 2013
Australia, who were Friday drawn in Group B, which also includes the Netherlands and Chile, reached agreement with the state of Espirito Santo and the local football federation to use the coastal city as their training base.
Football Federation Australia said the state and state football authorities would invest in the Socceroos' training base, which will be left as a legacy for the people of Vitoria.
"We are extremely pleased to have secured Vitoria as our base for the 2014 FIFA World Cup," said FFA chief executive David Gallop.
"Vitoria is a safe and welcoming city with beautiful beaches, and travelling Australian fans will have a good time while following the Socceroos on our World Cup journey."
Australia play Chile on June 13, the Netherlands five days later and Spain on June 23.
