New Zealand closed in on a second consecutive win over the West Indies Sunday, reaching lunch on the fourth day of the third Test on 89-1, requiring just 33 more runs to wrap up a 2-0 series victory.

Kane Williamson was unbeaten on 39 with Hamish Rutherford 33 not out as New Zealand chased a meagre target of 122.

Darren Sammy, whose safe hands have been one of the few highlights for the West Indies, picked up the one wicket to fall when he caught and bowled Peter Fulton for 10.

It ended a dismal series for the New Zealand opener, whose past four innings have only produced 30 runs.

Sunil Narine again tormented the batsmen, as he had done in New Zealand's first innings, but this time without reward.

Rutherford offered a chance when, on 20, he spooned a delivery towards cover point, where Veerasammy Permaul did not see the ball early enough and it landed short of his grasp.

When on 24, he was given out caught behind, but the decision was overturned on appeal with the video replay showing the sound was the bat hitting the ground.
