The controversial law scholar returned to Singapore for the first time since news of his sex blog broke, having agreed to a series of scheduled media interviews.

23-year-old Vivian Lee, Tan’s partner who was supposed to show up with him, did not make the trip due to her family’s objections, according to Tan’s interview with a local media. Lee later revealed that “my mother gave me an ultimatum to marry him or move out within a month”.

The marketing graduate, who stays in Johor Bahru with her widowed mother and elder brother admitted that she was “a little scared” of the prospect of marrying Tan although it was unlikely to happen.

The young couple, who claimed to be in an open relationship, revealed that Lee’s distraught mother had tried but failed to contact Tan several times and also warned him to keep his hands off her daughter.

In another media interview, the eloquent Tan claimed to have only one regret – that the university was implicated. He said, “I don't feel good about NUS being dragged in. It was never my intention to let that happen.”
