Luxembourg's Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume married Belgian countess Stephanie de Lannoy in an elaborate wedding that took place over the weekend. Starting with a civil ceremony on October 19 and a religious ceremony on October 20, the royal couple's wedding drew the attendance of many of the world's royals, in what has been dubbed by the Luxembourgian press as a 'fairytale wedding'.

Prince Guillaume is the heir apparent to the throne of Luxembourg, presently held by his father Grand Duke Henri, while his 28-year-old bride is a member of one of Belgium's oldest aristocratic families and the youngest of eight children.

The cream of Europe's royalty -- including the monarchs of Belgium, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries attended the Catholic wedding mass at Notre Dame Cathedral. In attendance were Princess Caroline of Monaco, Britain's Prince Edward, and Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito, as well as King of the Belgians Albert II and Queen Paola, who have family ties with the Luxembourg monarchy.

The newlyweds left for honeymoon on Sunday for an undisclosed destination.
