Kai Kai, the male giant panda who arrived in Singapore on September 6, spent his first birthday on Singapore soil feasting on special treats.
Born on September 14 2007, Kai Kai was presented with a special birthday cake made of ice, carrots, apples and high-fibre biscuits which was specially prepared by local staff. The unique cake had to be frozen overnight and weighed a whopping 5kg.
Both Kai Kai and Jia Jia have settled into their new homes and have adapted well a day after their arrival on September 6. The two have started eating locally-grown bamboo such as sulphur bamboo and hedge bamboo.
For those eager to personally welcome our furry friends, rest assured that they are scheduled to meet the general public in December. Until then, they will be undergoing quarantine before being released into their River Safari exhibit to explore and familiarise themselves with their new surroundings.
