River Hongbao at The Float @ Marina Bay

President Tony Tan Keng Yam launched the River Hongbao 2013 at The Float @ Marina Bay on Friday, February 8.

The annual Lunar New Year carnival kicked off with a large fireworks display, marking the start of the event.

The nine-day festival will feature larger-than-life lantern displays including the 18-metre tall God of Wealth and giant screen lanterns measuring 30m long and 10m tall.

There will also be daily performances featuring entertainers from China's Guangdong province, handicrafts and more than 40 food stalls selling local and Guangdong delicacies.

River Hongbao runs till February 16.
