Singapore’s largest spring carnival kicks off with a bang at Marina Bay.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong launched the River Hongbao 2014 at the Floating Platform @ Marina Bay on Wednesday, January 29.
Singapore’s largest Lunar New Year carnival kicked off with a large fireworks display, marking the start of the event.
The 11-day festival features 28 handcrafted larger-than-life lanterns including the 18-metre tall God of Fortune and the animals of the Chinese zodiac.
There are also digital message boards where visitors can pen well wishes to loved ones and relatives.
Other highlights of the carnival include daily performances by the highly acclaimed Yunnan Opera Theatre, handicrafts and more than 40 food stalls selling local and Yunnan delicacies.
River Hongbao runs till February 8, from noon to 11.30pm. Admission is free.
