At this time of the year, Orchard Road is traditionally dazzling with Christmas lights. Not only has Singaporeans’ favourite shopping belt been transformed into an enchanting winter wonderland, even the malls are all dressed up for the occasion.

Eleven malls along the 2.2-kilometre stretch from Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura have pulled out all the stops, and lights, for the annual Best Dressed Building contest, organised by the Orchard Road Business Association.

Winning the award for Best Dressed Building for the third year running is Orchard Central (OC) with its fanciful festive Town Square.

The highlight of the festive décor is the OC Christmas tree - a gigantic mosaic art-piece partially made out of green recycled bottles and outlined with energy-saving LED lights. It also features a green dome at the base where shoppers can rest and savour the festive spirit.

"We are delighted that our efforts this Christmas, to engage OC shoppers with quirky decorations and interactive elements, have been successful," said Kelvin Ling, Director and Chief Operating Officer of Retail Business Group at Far East Organization.

"This has spurred us to explore more new and exciting concepts to enhance the mall experience for our consumers amid this fast-moving retail landscape."

Tailing closely are three other winners: Paragon with its musically-inclined design concept, The Centrepoint with its whimsical Christmas theme and Tanglin Mall, which never fails to draw the crowds with its traditional Christmas theme.

Winners are decided by a panel of professional judges, with public votes making up 20 per cent of the score card.
