Scholars in hot soup for online antics

Ministry of Education scholar Sun Xu gained widespread infamy for publishing a comment on Chinese social networking site ‘Ren Ren’. In it, he wrote that “there are more dogs than humans in Singapore” and ranted about people staring at him after he brushed against them in public. He was fined $3,000 and had to complete three months of community service before being allowed to graduate.
