In the province of North Sumatra in Indonesia, Mount Sinabung has been erupting throughout September and November, shooting ash as high as 8 kilometres (4.97 miles) into the air. Sinubung had been dormant for more than 400 years before eruptions resumed in August 2010. Thousands of people have evacuated the area, which is situated in the Pacific's "Ring of Fire." This image shows the eruption on November 5, 2013.
