People in China have been making their annual trip back to their hometowns since January 16, the start of Chunyun, otherwise known as “Spring Festival Transport”. It is one of the biggest and most important annual event of the year for the Chinese, with families all coming together to celebrate and reunite.

An official from the National Development and Reform Commission estimated that a total of 3.6 billion trips will take place during this period, a 200 million increase from last year. Majority of these trips will be via buses and trains, which are a cheaper way to travel as opposed to flights.
