Voters in Indonesia – the world’s fourth most populous country, and the nation with the largest Muslim population - head to polling booths on Wednesday, July 9, for a closely contested president election. It’s only the third such vote since the collapse of Suharto’s autocratic regime in 1998. 186 million people are expected to go to the polls, making Indonesia the world’s third largest democracy.
