The debate then moved onto the controversial topic of healthcare. Romney accused Obama of cutting $716billion from Medicare (the health care plan for older people) to pay for his healthcare reforms, a claim that has been repeatedly debunked by fact-checkers. For some reason Obama decided to agree with him. Romney then attacked Obama for his "Obamacare" reforms, which were almost identical to reforms Mitt Romney himself introduced when governor of Massachusetts. Obama insisted that healthcare reforms had the potential to be more effective when managed at a national, rather than regional level. Mitt Romney said that wasn't true.
