Assistant director of the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), 39- year-old Edwin Yeo Seow Hiong, has been charged with 21 offences, including embezzlement and forgery.

The news, while not the first of its kind, has shocked many Singaporeans given the scale of the civil servant’s wrongdoing and his high rank in the field. 

The accused has been charged with eight counts of misappropriation totalling more than S$1.7 million between 2008 and 2012.
