Italy appoints new finance minister

Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti will step down as finance minister and current deputy minister Vittorio Grilli will take his place.
The government said Mr Monti will preside over a new committee for economic and financial policy.
The committee will include Mr Grilli, Economic Development Minister Corrado Passera and Bank of Italy governor Ignazio Visco.
Mr Monti took the post of interim finance minister last year in a bid to reassure investors.
