Australia's Qantas doubles H1 net profit to US$114 million

Australian flag carrier Qantas Airways on Thursday announced a doubling of first half net profit to Aus$111 million (US$114 million).

The result in the six months to December 31 was up 164 percent on the previous corresponding period and was in line with guidance.

Underlying profit before tax -- the airline's preferred measure of financial performance -- was Aus$223 million, up 10 percent.
