ABC News reported on Jul 18 last year that a Victorian hospital had to apologise to two families after it got two newborn babies mixed up.
The babies spent most of a day with the wrong mothers, who also nursed them, until one family member noticed the mistake.
St John of God Hospital in Geelong blamed human error for the mix-up – citing “a breakdown in process”, and that “a name bracelet wasn't checked and the babies were placed in incorrect cots”.
