6. 41-year-old teacher leaves family to move in with teenager

In early 2012, 41-year-old James Hooker left his wife and children to move in with his former student, 18-year-old Jordan Powers, only for the relationship to end when Hooker was arrested for sexually assaulting an underage female student in 1998. Prior to their breakup, Powers and Hooker went on Dr. Phil and “Good Morning America” to defend their affair. After Hooker’s past sexual exploits came to light, Powers moved out of their apartment, lamenting to “Good Morning America” that she’d given up everything to be with her teacher.

Their woes didn’t last long, though. A week and a half later, Powers told a local TV station that she and Hooker were back together. The former teacher’s trial for his crimes in 1998 is ongoing.
